“So, what’s Crux?”
Written by Christian Bringolf.
I was born and raised in West Seattle where I spent many years playing sports and being involved in various junior high and high school activities as a student. Years later I started helping lead JHS and HS ministry for West Side Presbyterian. During the last few years of college, Jesus called me to Mars Hill where I have been for the last five years and where I met my soon to be lovely wife Julia Jackson:). Our goal is to teach Jesus to JH students, to help the guys understand what biblical masculinity is and to treat girls with value, dignity, and worth. In addition to that teach JH girls to find their identity within Jesus Christ.
Crux is Latin for “cross,” in reference to the cross of Christ. We also believe that the junior high years are a “crux” in the road of life, when the weight of temptation and the question of faith vie for the upper hand.
The mission of Crux is to live for Jesus as a part of Mars
Hill Church by knowing the culture of junior high school students, and loving them through biblical community, teaching, worship, and attractional programming in order to see their lives, and those who influence them, transformed to live for Jesus.
As my fellow accomplice mentioned in the Proxy blog there will be an informational meeting held this Sunday Sept 16th right after service @12pm in the multi-purpose room of the West Seattle campus, as well as the official launch of Proxy/Crux on Sept. 19th @ 7pm-8:30pm.
