Crux Craziness

by Christian  Bringolf

Inflatable obstacle course, Nintendo Wii, Star Wars, being extremely tired from late night wrestling with 15 guys…leads to, “Post Lock-in Blues.”  Just to let everyone know what went down last Friday the 27th, all three campuses held Mars Hill’s second annual junior high lock-in.  We started at 7pm Friday night and ended at 10am Saturday morning out at the Ballard campus.

We cleared out most of the chairs from the auditorium and setup a huge inflatable obstacle course.  Those that didn’t want to go on the obstacle course could go and play the Nintendo Wii on a huge projector screen against other junior highers.

As the night went on we talked about friendship and what that means to everyone and how it ultimately relates to Jesus.  We started to wrap up the night with watching Star Wars episode 2 and just when everyone was starting to fall asleep, Mike Johnson got everyone ramped up to do some competitive games.

Finally, when it hit 1am, it was time for bed. At least it was for the girls, but oh no, not for the guys.  Since wrestling happened at the last lock-in, it was expected at this one.  It was five leaders versus 15 or so junior high guys that had long nails and way too much energy.  I think all the leaders initially thought that the guys would be tired after about 30 mins, we were way off.  Most of the guys didn’t get tired until around 4am.

We finally hit the hay in the foyer of Ballard and were pleasantly woken up about 3 and half hours later when breakfast club came in.  All this to say,  it was an awesome experience and I hope we can all do it again real soon. So, if you are a junior higher and are reading this, invite friends to CRUX, because these are the things that we do.  We keep it real, and have fun.

Peace out
CRUX

The Centrality of the Cross in Counseling | Redemption

We said last week that the atonement doctrines of ransom and redemption are interlinked. This week I will cover redemption. So what is redemption? Deliverance upon payment of ransom. What is the deliverance? Freedom from sin. What is the payment of ransom? His blood.
