Text & Context: Wrap Up

Last week saw over 1200 people at the Ballard Campus coming together to get blasted by a theological fire hose at the National Resurgence Conference: Text & Context . Pastors John Piper, Matt Chandler, CJ Mahaney, and Mark Driscoll taught at the three day conference. Each night the keynote lesson from John Piper was broadcast to the Shoreline, Eastside, Wedgwood, and West Seattle Campuses for a combined audience of nearly 2000 people. It was pretty astounding. Each time of teaching drove home the truths of the Bible to our misconceptions of how a Christian should live. Although the conference was directed towards prospective church planters through the Acts29 Network it was filled with teaching that can apply to every aspect of life.
The audio & notes from Piper’s talks are already up at Desiring God, his internet theology resource. There is so much information on this site that the notes are already off the front page. You can find them here here and here for the three sessions Piper did at the conference. In the coming weeks the Resurgence will be releasing video and audio from all of the sessions at the conference. If you can get your hands on some of the Q&A sessions they did, they are not only hilarious, but impactful. Don’t you want to find out how much Dr. Piper can bench press?
The conference also saw the first test of live web streaming. For production technology nerd like myself, this is a great step forward. For those who couldn’t make it to the conference, they could load a page with high quality video and audio and watch the sessions as they happened. Imagine the possibilities: some day we could do a broadcast where anyone with internet access could watch live anywhere in the world – from Australia to China to Everett. I love to see the distance between great teaching and ears to hear get shorter.
If you missed out on getting to the conference or viewing it online, check out www.theresurgence.com to get the audio and video when its released.
