ANNOUNCEMENTS:

What’s going on in West Seattle?

  • Call to Mission is what we are calling our campaign to revamp the membership of Mars Hill Church. This includes a new membership class (i.e. Doctrine: What Christians Should Believe, beginning last Sunday), new “member” site (i.e. The City, sign-ups begin last Sunday), and the upcoming All-Member Meeting (Monday, April 21st). Mars Hill has undergone a massive reorganization over the last year and this is one of the final components. This will include wiping the membership slate of Mars Hill clean and then calling those that are on mission with Jesus to re-commit to a campus of MHC (or commit for the first time for new members). We are praying that this will result in a new membership, 3,000 strong, on mission with Jesus in Seattle. This process will be fully articulated at the April 21st Member Meeting, but you can follow this link for more information.
  • Sunday Parking Has Changed Please park at the EC Hughes parking lot. We are no longer using shuttle buses. EC Hughes parking lot is located at 34th ave SW and Holden one block east of the campus. Consider joining the parking team to help out. For more information contact westseattle@marshillchurch.org
  • The City is coming to West Seattle. The City will be a new way for church members to network with each other in a way that reflects real life instead of replacing it like other social networking sites. The first release has happened for the public and its only a matter of time until everyone is on board.
  • Mars Hill Outdoors has some great winter activities planned for this week. If you are Interested in finding an excuse to get outdoors, or looking for a great opportunity to meet new people, checkout the January calendar at marshilloutdoors.org
  • The men of Mars Hill are invited to gather Monday mornings at 7:00am to pray for our church, leadership, and community. For more information, e-mail westseattle@marshillchurch.org
  • For additional upcoming events please check out our calendar.

SERVING:

Where can I get plugged in?

  • PARKING TEAM is looking for volunteers to help with the new parking lot we have been given to steward. We need people to serve the neighborhood and the body by helping to park cars in the lot and not in someone’s yard. E-mail westseattle@marshillchurch.org to get connected.http://www.flickr.com/photos/enigmatic/
  • The Youth Ministry team is looking for leaders who are passionate for Jesus and the youth of West Seattle. Please email westseattleyouth@marshillchurch.org if interested.
  • Productions needs your help. If you are interested in helping with PowerPoint, lighting, audio, video, or any other aspect of making services happen in West Seattle, email nate.ellis@marshillchurch.org today.

The Centrality of the Cross in Counseling | Redemption

We said last week that the atonement doctrines of ransom and redemption are interlinked. This week I will cover redemption. So what is redemption? Deliverance upon payment of ransom. What is the deliverance? Freedom from sin. What is the payment of ransom? His blood.
