Decades later the legacy continues on Wednesday at 6:30 in the morning
By Pastor Cliff Low
Last Wednesday at 6:30 in the morning the men in West Seattle gathered to pray for each other, the church and for our mission to the community. Our numbers have more than doubled since we changed the day and time we meet just one week ago. Men’s morning prayer started over two years ago even before there was a West Seattle Campus by a few MH men that walked the neighborhood. The amazing thing is how many decades back this legacy of prayer actually goes. Currently at Mars Hill there are three ladies who were part of the Golden Girls who for decades have prayed through the West Seattle Phonebook and attended church in our building. We are all thankful to them for their faithfulness and forbearance to start a legacy of prayer for the community.
This week we spent time studying, reflecting and sharing on Romans 12:9-21 and talking about the marks of a true Christian. Pastor Adam talked about how “holding fast to what is good” reminded him of his mission trip to the Equator where he was literally swinging on vines over this jungle valley into an abyss of vegetation. Feel free to greet him as Tarzan next Sunday. We then focused on the deep need for a heart of humility so that our actions to all people reflect the character of Christ.
Prayers for our campus
- Pray that Mars Hill members would take personal responsibility to share the Gospel to those in their lives who do not yet know Jesus,
- Pray for the community groups as they are working to move through the membership process and the Gospel Play book (Gospel Identity, Gospel Fellowship, Gospel Worship, Gospel Mission).
- Pray people would get on mission in West Seattle as an act of worship.
- Pray for our needs to raise money for a new boiler for West Seattle.
- Pray for wisdom that is of Heaven for the Elders, Staff and the rest of leadership.
- Pray that those who have not been baptized to consider expressing their commitment to Jesus this summer.
Prayers for those who are in need
- There are many in our congregation due to the economy that are hurting financially. Pray for great Faith and that they would worship God as the great provider (Matt 6:25-34)
- There are many true victims in our community. Pray that they would find help in Jesus as the Father of all mercies and (2 Cor 1:3-5)
- Pray for Joyce Prante, one of the golden girls who needs prayers and is open to financial support (James 1:27). (Contact Barney for more info BarneyGiles@msn.com)
Prayers for those who are being hardened by the grace and love of God
- Pray for those who are struggling in some type of addiction that they would walk Victoriously in their identity in Christ (Gal 2:20)
- Pray for those who are struggling with rebellion that they would understand that God is sovereign and good and chose to have faith in the Triune God rather than faith in self (Jer 17:5-10, Joel 2:13).
- Pray for the members who worship what money provides rather then Jesus. Pray that in their heart they would truly desire heavenly treasures (Matt 6:19-24).
Prayers for those on Mission
- Pray for Mars Hill West Seattle as we look for opportunities to serve our part of the city this Summer.
- Pray that the hearts of the members would break for those who do not know the love of Jesus.
- Pray for the community groups as they look for ways to serve the city.
- Pray for Chris and Elmira Knutzen who are missionaries in Ekaterinburg, Russia http://www.chrisknutzen.ministryhome.org/
