9/7 SUN Boiler Sunday | All Day

Sept 7th | Boiler Sunday

As you all know the boiler in our building is no longer boiling, which means we have no source of heat as we approach the fall and winter months. We selected a boiler replacement proposal with a total cost of $70k. Approximately 20 people from MHC WS, including all elders and deacons, have come together to offer a “first gift” towards this project totaling approximately $54k. God has been gracious in filling our body with many who are willing to sacrificially serve in this way. This means that the congregation will be responsible for the remaining $16k and our goal for raising this is Sept 7th, Boiler Sunday.

How do I give?
You can give by writing a check to “Mars Hill Church” and note “West Seattle Building Fund.”
You can also give online, noting “West Seattle Building Fund”.

Sept 13th | West Seattle Clean & Green

The West Seattle Campus is teaming up with the City of Seattle to help clean up the gateway to West Seattle. There will be various shifts between 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Sign up on The City or at the Info Desk to participate.

Sept 19-20th | Biblical Parenting Conference
The Shepherding a Child’s Heart conference is based on the best-selling book by Dr. Ted Tripp. This conference and book is world-renowned in its teaching about how to speak to and engage the heart of your children. This book and conference encourages God’s people to understand the heart as the “wellspring of life,” (Proverbs 4:23) Check out the website for more information

5 PM Service | It’s coming Sept 21st

On September 21st we begin our first evening service as a new missional opportunity to reach West Seattle. If you are interested in joining the core group, email westseattle@marshillchurch.org

Prayers this week:

  • Pray for the upcoming “Clean and Green” event on September 13th. Pray that Seattle would recognize the love of Jesus Christ through this event.
  • Pray for a spirit of unity in the Church and that people would respond to the Mission of our church out of an identity in Jesus. Pray that the believers at Mars Hill would take tangible steps to continue to mature in faith and bear fruit (2 Peter 1: 5-9).
  • Pray for the pastors that will be preaching the current sermon series on the book of Jonah. Pray that it would bring light to the hardness of our heart.
  • Pray that God will bring many unbelievers to our church on Sundays, into our community groups during the week, and to our summer gathering events as they are planned. Pray that each person would hear and respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray against Satan, his tricks, and divisive attempts to hamper the mission of Mars Hill and lead people astray from the truth.
  • Pray people would get on mission in the neighborhood, work place, school and community.
  • Pray for the launch of the 5pm service.
  • Pray that the hearts of the believers at Mars Hill would be focused on Jesus such that it becomes a joy to faithfully and sacrificially give of their time, talents, and treasure to the mission of Jesus Christ at Mars Hill (2 Corinthians 9:7).

TEACHING - November 18th, 2009

The Centrality of the Cross in Counseling | Redemption

We said last week that the atonement doctrines of ransom and redemption are interlinked. This week I will cover redemption. So what is redemption? Deliverance upon payment of ransom. What is the deliverance? Freedom from sin. What is the payment of ransom? His blood.
