Finishing Well . . . Fiscally Speaking
Last week in 2 Peter 1:5–15, we learned about the importance of steadfastness and finishing well. As usual, the timing of this message was providential as June marks the finish of our fiscal year at Mars Hill Church.
Giving is generally strong at Mars Hill West Seattle but in the last several months we have fallen behind. However, we still have an opportunity to end the fiscal year on target. This is very important as we head into the summer and a new year.
Stewarding our resources well is a significant indicator of the state of our heart. Jesus says your wallet follows your heart (Mt 6:21). He calls Christians to store up treasures in heaven (Mt 6:19–20) and contribute to gospel work through the giving of time, talent, and money (Mt 28:18–20). Therefore, in obedience to Jesus and as followers of his example, we are to give cheerfully, sacrificially, and regularly (2 Cor 9:6–15).
If every West Seattle household within our campus were to give an average of $200 in the next month, we would make budget. This may be too much for some and not enough for others. The point is if all of us contribute we have an opportunity to unite as the body of Christ and finish well together so that the gospel can continue to move forward in our great city.
Finishing Well with You,
