Who We Are

Mars Hill Church lives for Jesus as a city within the city: knowing culture, loving people and seeing lives transformed to live for Jesus.

West Seattle is a neighborhood directly south of Downtown which includes the Admiral, Highpoint, Delridge, White Center districts.  It is also home to Alki Beach, one of the few places in Seattle with open bonfire pits.

Sunday attendance at West Seattle Campus stands at around 1,000–made up of families, marrieds and single people from the surrounding community as well as South Seattle and nearby suburbs.

What We Believe

When it comes to doctrine, culture, preferences, traditions, lifestyles, politics, behavior, etc., Mars Hill Church takes a “closed-hand/open-hand” approach. The closed hand hangs onto the non-negotiable tenets of Christian orthodoxy: sin is the problem, Jesus is the answer, the Bible is true, and Hell is hot. The open hand, however, allows room for differences when it comes to secondary matters.

Why We Do Video

How important is it to have the preacher physically present in the room? How do Campus Pastors lead their people without having a regular voice from the pulpit? Are campuses who view preaching by video anything more than overflow rooms?

Pastors & Staff

Human Leadership in the church is little more than qualified Christians who are following Jesus and encouraging other people to follow them as they follow Jesus. Because of this, church leaders must be good sheep who follow their Chief Shepherd Jesus well before they are fit to be shepherds leading any of his sheep. – From On Church Leadership by Mark Driscoll
