This past week, the West Seattle Blog, Southwest District Council and Delridge District Council held their first-ever West Seattle Volunteer Recognition.  Among the recipients were Tim and Carol Winston, members of the Community Group I lead.

Being techno-savvy is part of the culture of Seattle, and Mars Hill “lives for Jesus as a city within the city of Seattle: knowing culture, loving people, and seeing lives transformed to live for Jesus.” That means we get to know the culture and use the tools available to spread the Gospel. The West Seattle campus is embracing the many available opportunities for using the internet to build upon real, meaningful community.

Here are some examples of ways we can patronize local establishments, make personal connections with the employees and other regulars, and get on a first-name basis with them. As the saying goes, “They don’t care what you know until they know that you care.” And it’s not just about an agenda, it’s about truly loving people and showing them, through our actions, the love that Christ has shown us.
