This past week, the West Seattle Blog, Southwest District Council and Delridge District Council held their first-ever West Seattle Volunteer Recognition.  Among the recipients were Tim and Carol Winston, members of the Community Group I lead.
The Winstons were honored together for their tireless work on behalf of West Seattle Hi-Yu, and Cindi Barker swore it [...]

West Seattle Wired

Friday, February 6th, 2009

Being techno-savvy is part of the culture of Seattle, and Mars Hill “lives for Jesus as a city within the city of Seattle: knowing culture, loving people, and seeing lives transformed to live for Jesus.” That means we get to know the culture and use the tools available to spread the Gospel. The West Seattle campus is embracing the many available opportunities for using the internet to build upon real, meaningful community.

Missional Community

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

Here are some examples of ways we can patronize local establishments, make personal connections with the employees and other regulars, and get on a first-name basis with them. As the saying goes, “They don’t care what you know until they know that you care.” And it’s not just about an agenda, it’s about truly loving people and showing them, through our actions, the love that Christ has shown us.

Everclear @ Downtown

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

One of my personal favorites, ever since I first heard the simple laid-back guitar of their single “Santa Monica”, is playing at the Downtown Campus of Mars Hill Church in just a week. Needless to say, I’m excited.
The show will be a benefit for New Horizons, a non-profit group that works with street youth [...]

Driving Ms. Amy

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

Sixteen days ago, I had surgery to repair a hernia in my esophagus.  In the weeks since, I’ve had to adjust to a different way of life, including letting people shuttle me around from place to place, since I can’t drive myself very well yet.
I’ve also come to realize that this mirrors my spiritual state.  [...]
