On January 4th 2009, I continued from where we left off in our study of 15:11-32, a parable commonly referred to as “The Parable of the Prodigal Son.” The primary storyline of the parable is that both sons are running from the father, though in different ways. But, despite their rebellion, the father leaves his home to invite them both to a great feast with him. Today we’ll see that this is not only the storyline of this parable, but of the entire Bible. Even more, its the story of which we are all a part and are invited into through Jesus Christ.

On December 28th 2008, I preached on Luke 15:11-32. In this Sermon, we take a look at a parable commonly referred to as the “The Parable of the Prodigal Son”. We’ll see that this parable is not about one son, but two, and the true main character is the father. Here Jesus teaches us that there are two primary ways to run from God – being incredibly bad and irreligious (as the young brother) or being extremely good and religious (as the older brother). Both sons are motivated out of the same desire to be in control and see their lives blessed though they choose different ways to achieve those ends. Neither son loves the father, neither obeys to simply please him, but the father loves them both and invites them out of their blatant disobedience and empty obedience to experience true relationship with him, for who he is, at a great feast. Both Audio and Video are available below, or are also available at media.marshillchurch.org

On Dec 30th, 2007, Pastor Adam preached on the life of John the Baptist.
Have you ever asked, “Is Jesus really who he said he is?” If so, you’re in good company – John the Baptizer did, even after witnessing Jesus’ baptism, even after publicly proclaiming Jesus to be “Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world” (John 1:36), even after making the bold claim that “[Jesus] must increase, but I must decrease.” (John 3:30) Yet, John eventually finds himself in jail, definitely not a part of his 20 year plan, and doubt begins to settle in. This message deals with doubt and questioning in the Christian life, and our response to it.
